Introduction to the Website for new members

The Club’s website is a comprehensive resource designed to help members stay informed, connected, and involved.

In addition to information about the Club and its history, the website includes:

• Past and future lunch talks. Details of past and upcoming lunch talks, including speaker presentations and slides where available. This allows you to catch up on talks you may have missed or revisit presentations at your leisure. 

• Past and future Outings. Information on past and future outings, showcasing the wide variety of activities enjoyed by Club members throughout the year. 

• Member stories. A rich collection of member stories that provides an opportunity to learn more about fellow members. Your introductory talk to the Club can also be included here (with your permission), and additional contributions are always welcome. 

• rettelsweN. One of the Club’s distinctive features is its collection of special newsletters known as rettelsweN - “Newsletter” spelled backwards. Created during the topsy-turvy COVID lockdown years, they helped maintain connection and camaraderie among members when face-to-face interaction was limited. Although the pandemic has passed, the need for stories and shared experiences remains. Contributions are still warmly welcomed, and the newsletters continue to offer engaging and varied reading.

• WhatsApp Community. The Club operates an innovative WhatsApp Community that connects members through shared interests. Current groups include travel, walking, theatre, music, Netflix, and many others. New groups can be created whenever there is interest, and members are free to join as many groups as they wish. Posting frequency is generally low, making participation easy and enjoyable. Members can also leave any group at any time.

• Probus Adventures. The Club has been undertaking 5 to 10-day trips to various parts of the country for many years. The trips typically consist of 15 to 24 members travelling together. Accommodation varies according to the places visited, from rustic to luxury - but always comfortable! The trips do not involve camping. The trips are very popular and are frequently full within 24 hours of being announced. If of interest, it is essential you join the WhatsApp Travel group and be ready to respond quickly. He (or she) who hesitates is lost! (Singles are welcome. Adventures are not just for couples.)

The website is much more than an information source. It is a resource owned and enriched by members, supporting the Club’s key objectives:

• To provide fellowship and opportunities to develop friendships

• To bring together compatible members and encourage meaningful connections

The WhatsApp Community and Probus Adventures play a particularly important role in achieving these goals, so we encourage you to join in, get involved, and make the most of all that the Club has to offer.
