Adding access rights for a non-Gmail account

The Club has decided that member information must be password protected. If you have a Gmail account, that is automatic. If you do not have a Gmail address, you can use your existing email address (for example, myemail@xyz.com) by linking it to a free Google Account.

How to do it:

1. Go to the Google Account sign-in page: https://accounts.google.com

2. Select Create account.

3. Choose 'For my personal use'.

4. Click 'Use my current email address instead' (do not create a Gmail address).

5. Enter your existing email address, i.e. myemail@xyz.com.

6. Create a password and complete the verification steps.

7. Google will send a verification code to your email myemail@xyz.com

8. Open that email, enter the code on the Google page, and complete the registration.

Once this is done, abc@xyz.com becomes your Google Account username. You will continue to receive email at your normal address (no Gmail mailbox is created) but Google will now recognise your email address for Google Sites i.e. the Club's website.  This is a once off step.
